Urticaria

Urticaria Treatment

Hives, also known as urticaria, affects about 20 percent of people at some time during their lives. It can be triggered by many substances or situations and usually starts as an itchy patch of skin that turns into swollen red welts.
The itching may be mild to severe.
Scratching, alcoholic beverages, exercise and emotional stress may worsen the itching.

Allergy test:

  • Chronic hives should be evaluated by an allergist (after conducting skin tests, blood tests and urine tests), at COSMOSURE we have experts who will ask about you and your family’s medical history, substances to which you are exposed at home and work, exposure to pets or other animals and any medications you’ve taken recently.
  • If you have been keeping a food diary, show it to your allergist.

AUTOLOGOUS SERUM SKIN TEST

A significant number of patients have autoimmune basis where autologous serum skin test is widely used for detection of chronic Autoimmune Urticaria.

Autologous serum skin test is a simple, office-based test for detecting chronic autoimmune Urticaria patients who have no distinctive clinical features differentiating them from chronic idiopathic Urticaria patients. This is a useful screening test done by our experts at COSMOSURE.

ASST is currently the “gold standard” for detecting functional autoantibodies in patients with chronic idiopathic Urticaria.
