Keloids treatment

Scar.

This one word conveys several different means. It could mean a physical scar, which acts as an impediment to ‘perfect’ looks. It could also mean an emotional scar, that can leave  you feeling  unpleasant. Now, the thing about a physical scar is the fact that it can bother you emotionally as well. While many choose to live with scars that are barely there, for scars that remind you constantly about their existence, there’s nothing better than a cosmetic intervention.

Some scars are easy to hide with a few strokes off a makeup brush. But there are other scars that are too out there for them to be hidden by any means. Keloids are one such type. These scars are typically known as the scars that don’t know where to stop. These scars are hard and more often than not, bigger and bumpier compared to normal scars. The good news, however, is the fact that they are benign.
What exactly is a keloid?

Keloids are scars that form due to the excessive growth of scar tissues. When you get injured, fibrous tissues called scar tissues form over it. In fact, in many cases, the keloids are bigger than the injury. Even though they present no medical concern, yet, for most people the appearance is a reason why they opt or treatments.

Why do they appear?

Like mentioned above, keloids are overgrown scar tissues. These could be a result of:

  • Injuries
  • Surgeries
  • Piercings
  • Bruises
  • Burns
  • Scars
  • Vaccinations

Note: Keloids are mostly found in people who have dark pigmented skin.

Apart from being related to injuries or scars, keloids are also genetic in nature. In fact, if your parents happen to have keloids, then your chances of developing keloids also go up.

How to treat keloids?

Keloids can be treated with cosmetic surgeries. At the hands of an experienced surgeon, backed with state-of-the-art facilities, keloids can be surgically removed with quite fast recovery too.
